VOCABULARY

rusty - одно из значений - "запущенный, требующий обновления или практики (о каком-л. навыке и т. п.)"

My husband's parents live in Mexico and were coming up to visit. Because their English is rusty, my husband was worried they wouldn't be able to talk with me. So I secretly started taking Spanish lessons. By the time his parents arrived, I could carry on simple conversations with them. I've never seen my husband so surprised and grateful.

After several years of English inactivity he says his English is rusty and he sometimes struggles for the right word when describing his emotions and feelings.

like pulling hen's teeth = almost impossible.
Лингво 9.0. по поводу "hen's teeth" ничего не говорит,
в словаре "Мультитран" сказано, что "rare as hen's teeth" - чрезвычайно редко (австралийский слэнг).
"like pulling hen's teeth" используется и в деловой речи, и не только австралийцами, но и англичанами, американцами, канадцами. Например,
Getting the last name from someone on the other end of a government telephone line is like pulling hen's teeth; it is virtually impossible.

counterpart - здесь в значении "партнер, коллега"

GRAMMAR - 'yet'
"We use yet mainly in questions and negative sentences.
Yet usually goes at the end of a sentence:
It's 10 o'clock and Tom hasn't got up yet.
I'm hungry. Is dinner ready yet?
We don't know where we're going for our holidays yet."[1]

Повторим примеры, приведенные в прошлогоднем 82-м выпуске:
Do you have a girlfriend yet? – у тебя уже есть девушка?
Married yet? - лаконичнее. Женился уже?

"We often use yet with present perfect: "Yet = 'until now' and shows that the speaker is expecting something to happen.
Has it stopped raining yet?
I've written the letter, but I haven't posted it yet."[1]

Charles, convinced that the woman was batty, tried to be nice about explaining the situation to the old woman. He said, "How can we discuss our marriage if we aren't married?"
